The Early Eighties: Sidelights on Baltimore

The cards below came from the book "The Early Eighties: Sidelights on the Baltimore of Forty Years ago". The book was published in the early 1920s, so 40 years before then meant the 1880's, part of the Gilded Age in America and time of rapid economic growth.

Not that many copies remain of this 24 page book which was used as an advertising tool for the Mercantile Trust & Deposit Company. The copy we had was badly damaged with moisture stained covers, but the inside pictures were intact, so it was perfect for this project. The pictures have a soothing cream tint and look great on our greeting cards. As usual, nothing is written inside the cards so send them to friends and write about how much you love this city!
